Penguin Amigurumi Free Crochet Pattern

Hey guys! Today I want to share with you one of my oldest crochet pattern but still very cute and fun to follow. It’s a super cute amigurumi penguin wearing pompom hat. Hope you like it, enjoy!

Penguin Amigurumi Free Crochet Pattern

Material

  • Some yarn of your choice. I use purple, white and orange colors.
  • A hook.
  • A needle.
  • Tiny black beads for eyes.
  • Some stuffing.

Crochet Pattern: Penguin

HEAD-BODY

Using purple yarn.

R1 : 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2 : increase in each stitch of previous round (12)

R3 : (1sc, increase) repeat 6 times (18)

R4 : (2sc, increase) repeat 6 times (24)

R5 : 24sc (24)

R6 : (3sc, increase) repeat 6 times (30)

R7 : 30sc (30)

R8 : (4sc, increase) repeat 6 times (36)

R9 -R11 : 36sc (36)

R12 : (5sc, increase) repeat 6 times (42)

R13 -R21 : 42sc (42)

R22: (5sc, decrease) repeat 6 times (36)

R23 : 36sc (36)

R24 : (4sc, decrease) repeat 6 times (30)

Start stuffing, then continue while you go.

R25 : (3sc, decrease) repeat 6 times (24)

R26 : (2sc, decrease) repeat 6 times (18)

R27 : (1sc, decrease) repeat 6 times (12)

R28 : 6 decrease (6)

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

TUMMY-BIB 

Using white yarn.

R1 : chain 12

R2 : Start crocheting from the second stitch: increase, 7 sc, 2 increases, turn the chain and continue, increase, 7 sc, 2 increases (26)

R3 : increase, 2 sc, 1 hdc (half double crochet), 3 dc (double crochet), 1 hdc, 3 sc, 3 increases, 2 sc, 1 hdc, 3 sc, 1 hdc, 3 sc, 2 increases (32)

R4 : 12 sc, 3 increases, 13 sc, 3 increases, 1 ss (sleep stitch)

Sew tummy-bib to the body.

 

Amigurumi Penguin Purple

ARMS (WINGS) (make 2)

Using purple yarn.

R1 : 5 sc in a magic ring (5)

R2 : 2 sc, (3 sc in next stitch), 2 sc (7)

R3 : 3 sc, (3 sc in next stitch), 3 sc (9)

R4 : 5 sc, (3 sc in next stitch), 3 sc (11)

R5 – R10 : 11sc (11)

Fasten off and leave long end for sewing.  Attach to sides of body, flatten before sewing.

TAIL

Using purple yarn.

R1 : 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2 : increase in each stitch of previous round (12)

R3 : 12 sc (12)

Fasten off and weave in the ends. Sew tail to the body, flatten before sewing.

Amigurumi Penguin In A Stripy Hat

BEAK

Using orange yarn.

R1 : 4 sc in a magic ring (4)

R2 : increase in each stitch of previous round (8)

R3 : (3sc, increase) repeat 2 times (10)

R4 : (4sc, increase) repeat 2 times (12)

Fasten off and weave in the ends. Stuff and sew to the head.

LEGS (make 2)

Using orange yarn.

R1 : 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2 : (1sc, increase) repeat 3 times (9)

R3 : (2sc, increase) repeat 3 times (12)

R4 – R5 : 12 sc (12)

R6 : (3sc, increase) repeat 3 times (15)

R7 : (4sc, increase) repeat 3 times (18)

R8 : (5sc, increase) repeat 3 times (21)

Flatten the leg and single crochet over the opened edge. Make increase in the first, middle and last stitches.

Sew legs to the body.

EYES

Sew black beads close one to another right above the beak.

Use any yarn of your choice

R1 : 4 sc in a magic ring (4)

R2 : (1sc, increase) repeat 2 times (6)

R3 : (2sc, increase) repeat 2 times (8)

R4 : (3sc, increase) repeat 2 times (10)

R5 : (4sc, increase) repeat 2 times (12)

R6 : (5sc, increase) repeat 2 times (14)

R7 : (6sc, increase) repeat 2 times (16)

R8 : (7sc, increase) repeat 2 times (18)

R9 : (8sc, increase) repeat 2 times (20)

R10 : (9sc, increase) repeat 2 times (22)

R11 : (10sc, increase) repeat 2 times (24)

R12 : (11sc, increase) repeat 2 times (26)

R13 : (12sc, increase) repeat 2 times (28)

R14 : (13sc, increase) repeat 2 times (30)

R15 : (14sc, increase) repeat 2 times (32)

Make a pompom and attach it to the hat. The hat sew to the penguin and your are Done!
